Trust Runner Feels He's In Good Nick

Good luck to volunteer Nick Gaulder who is preparing to run in the London Marathon next month to raise money - and awareness - for the RAF Charitable Trust. Nick, who is part of the RAF's cyber security force, as a phase 2 instructor, at RAF Cosford, will be hoping to beat his personal best time of three hours and 16 minutes at the event Sunday, October 3.

  

He said: "Everything will rest on race day being perfect if I am to set a new PB but I feel really confident. I've had various injuries in the off season but I've built up well and have a good training plan." This will be Nick's 22nd competitive marathon - though he's also completed two, mammoth 'five marathons in five days' challenges. 

Nick first became a volunteer at RIAT 1997 as an Air Cadet with the Bristol & Gloucester Wing. Five years later he joined the Royal Air Force. In 2008 he joined the Park & View Team, becoming Park & View West supervisor. Shortly after completing an 18-month posting to Cyprus for 18 months, Nick was asked if he could help support the Trust's work at RIAT 2019. This involved putting up Trust banners across the site, helping manage a team of University Air Squadron personnel and filling in wherever he was needed.  

Nick said: "I didn't know much about the Trust and all the good work it does before I came on board and now I just want to get the name out there - to let people know about the youngest member of the RAF's family of charities. More people need to know about the Trust!"
