RAFCTE is best known for staging the world renowned Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire each year. In 2003, RIAT was granted status as the largest military air show globally by Guinness World Records. In addition to the heads of many of the world’s air forces and major suppliers to the sector, RIAT also hosts thousands of aviation enthusiasts and members of the public over three days. As well as aviation the event is increasingly a family day out, with the exceptional Techno Zone® providing unique interactive STEM activities, under the banner of RAFCT’s mission to inspire young people to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology. In total, over 200,000 people attended RIAT in 2024.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an Events Assistant who will play a key role within our Commercial Department providing administrative support and assisting with the delivery of RIAT 2025

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the administration and delivery of consumer commercial activity, including retail traders, brand activation, public catering, sponsorship and bespoke events and activity
  •  Support with the promotion, selling, co-ordination and delivery of consumer commercial activity
  • Co-ordinate delivery of event operations and ensure third parties (retail traders and caterers, etc) abide by safety, quality and financial best practice and guidance.
  • Ensuring that all sales activities are accurately recorded, invoiced, and recorded using RAFCTE-approved systems
  • Co-ordination of the accreditation pass system for consumer commercial clients including trading and catering suppliers
  • Co-ordinate the processing, allocation and collection of passes during RIAT
  • Co-ordination of relevant third parties’ administration including all insurance and health and safety documentation
  • Support the co-ordination of the commercial team’s volunteers in advance and during the show
  • Work at RIAT, providing support and co-ordination throughout, with the delivery of all the Showground consumer commercial business activities
  • Supporting the overall Customer Experience Department to deliver a successful RIAT

 

Type of contract/working hours:

Fixed term contract until 25th July 2025.
 
Full-time - minimum 36.25 hours, typically 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, flexibility is essential with regard to working hours, and some weekend working will also be required from time to time to fulfil responsibilities. Applicants must be able to commit to working weekends 12th or 13th July and 19th and 20th July (RIAT Weekend) are essential.


 
What we will offer:

A salary of £25,000 per annum pro rata.
You will also be given two complimentary tickets to The Royal International Air Tattoo and a staff discount of 50% for an additional six.

 

About you:

If you have strong organisational skills, able to multitask with good oral and written communication we would strongly encourage you to apply.
You must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office to include word and excel with the ability to demonstrate that you can manage high workloads and be a formidable team player. Knowledge of the events or hospitality sector would be desirable but not essential. A full UK driving licence is required
