RAFCTE is best known for staging the world renowned Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire each year. In 2003, RIAT was granted status as the largest military air show globally by Guinness World Records. In addition to the heads of many of the world’s air forces and major suppliers to the sector, RIAT also hosts thousands of aviation enthusiasts and members of the public over three days. As well as aviation the event is increasingly a family day out, with the exceptional Techno Zone® providing unique interactive STEM activities, under the banner of RAFCT’s mission to inspire young people to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology. In total, over 200,000 people attended RIAT in 2024.
Your main responsibilities will include:  

 

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and professional Executive Assistant to provide dedicated support to our Chief Executive and Executive Directors. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in a similar role, with the ability to manage complex diaries, coordinate high-level meetings, and maintain exceptional accuracy in administrative tasks.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative and professional support to the CEO 
  • Assist with administration to the RAFCTE Executive Directors. 
  • Attend RAFCTE Board, SLT and RIAT Planning meetings to capture actions and disseminate information in advance and following. 
  • Liaising across the Company and reporting issues to the CEO or relevant Executive Director to aid decision making and ensuring urgent matters are routed effectively.  
  • Responsible for maintaining key business documentation, in accordance with the Company Legal and Compliance Register such as the RIAT Business Plan, Standard Operating Procedures Trackers and Company Briefing presentation.  
  • Managing the annual cycle of Company events and activities – Board Meetings and Company social programme.  
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in minute-taking, with a strong ability to plan, coordinate, and manage meetings efficiently 
  • Proven experience in leading strategic engagement initiatives and supporting high-level stakeholder collaboration 
  • Expertise in complex diary management, ensuring optimal scheduling and time management for senior leadership 

Type of contract/working hours:

Permanent - Full time36.25 hours per week. All employees are required to work the Saturday or Sunday before the Royal International Air Tattoo and the whole weekend of the event.


 
What we will offer:

A salary between £30,000-£35,000 per annum is accompanied by pension and a focus on staff wellbeing and social events throughout the year. 

You will also be given two complimentary tickets to The Royal International Air Tattoo and a staff discount of 50% for an additional six.

 

About you

You will be confident communicating at all levels, with a strong ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and make sound judgments under pressure. A natural relationship builder, you will be skilled at working across teams and with external stakeholders, always maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach.

An understanding of the military or defence environment is essential, along with a genuine interest in supporting our mission to inspire future generations through air, space, and technology.
