RAFCTE is best known for staging the world renowned Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire each year. In 2003, RIAT was granted status as the largest military air show globally by Guinness World Records. In addition to the heads of many of the world’s air forces and major suppliers to the sector, RIAT also hosts thousands of aviation enthusiasts and members of the public over three days. As well as aviation the event is increasingly a family day out, with the exceptional Techno Zone® providing unique interactive STEM activities, under the banner of RAFCT’s mission to inspire young people to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology. In total, over 200,000 people attended RIAT in 2024.
What are we looking for?
As part of a collaborative team, you will work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications, and other key stakeholders to enhance our brand presence and community engagement. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of marketing, including social media strategy, website management, community engagement, and event coordination, while contributing to the success of our high-profile campaigns and initiatives.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate, manage and create Group collateral across print, video and digital
- Brief and manage our video production process with the company’s digital marketing agency
- Co-ordination and management of signage requirements, operational, commercial or customer experience
- Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop a best-in-class process and tracking methodology
- Be brand guardian for the Group along with the Head of Marketing & Communications and own the production of the brand guidelines document
- Work with and brief the Group’s digital marketing agency on the show creative and subsequent rollout across various media
- Work with and brief the Group’s digital marketing agency on video production including attending shoots off-site where required
- Work with and brief the Group’s digital marketing agency on video production during the show
- Ensure filming requirements on-site are managed such as recording of progress meetings
- Produce graphics and videos for use on social media in conjunction with the Social Media Manager
- Management of the photo teams (paid and volunteer) during the show, including the creation and communication of thorough briefs in a timely manner
- Ownership and maintenance of the photo drives and storage, ensuring timely upload and management of assets
- Work with the Website & CRM Executive to ensure the Group website(s) are best in class in terms of design
- Assist Executive team with the production of board reports, pitch decks and presentations (design)
- Mentor a junior member of staff who assists you with artworking
- Manage a fixed term contract artworker (if required), and freelance support (if required)
- Manage the relationships with print and signage suppliers including sourcing of quotes in a timely manner and overseeing installs
- You will be proactive and think ahead of the curve with graphic design trends
Type of contract/Working Hours:
Full Time - Permanent
36.25 hours per week. All employees are required to work the Saturday or Sunday before the Royal International Air Tattoo and the whole weekend of the event.
What we WILL offer:
A salary between £36,000 - £38,000 per annum is accompanied by pension, and 4x life assurance, we also hold staff wellbeing and social events throughout the year.
20 days annual leave (rising to 25) plus Bank Holidays
Christmas closure of our offices (not from leave allowance)
2 days paid volunteering leave per year
Non-Contractual:
You will also receive two complimentary tickets to The Royal International Air Tattoo and a staff discount of 50% for an additional six.
- HND Design (essential) or higher
Knowledge:
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in graphic design (essential)
- Expert use of the Adobe Creative Suite – including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator (essential); Premiere Pro (essential) and After Effects (highly desirable); Dreamweaver (desirable but not essential)
- Extensive experience of producing print (understanding the print process), video, digital and social collateral across a range of size and formats
- Experience within a marketing team or specific events industry knowledge (desirable)
- Previous experience working in an office environment dealing with administrative tasks (essential)
- A strong portfolio of examples of previous work produced (essential)
- An interest in aviation, especially military aircraft (highly desirable)
