RAFCTE is best known for staging the world renowned Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire each year. In 2003, RIAT was granted status as the largest military air show globally by Guinness World Records. In addition to the heads of many of the world’s air forces and major suppliers to the sector, RIAT also hosts thousands of aviation enthusiasts and members of the public over three days. As well as aviation the event is increasingly a family day out, with the exceptional Techno Zone® providing unique interactive STEM activities, under the banner of RAFCT’s mission to inspire young people to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology. In total, over 200,000 people attended RIAT in 2024.
What are we looking for?
- Support the Head of Marketing & Communications in developing, producing and delivering the Company’s marketing strategy
- Take the lead on the RIAT and RAFCT social media strategy
- Manage and monitor social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn) to build brand presence
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent and timely flow of content across all platforms to grow our brand and engage our audiences
- Ensure consistency across brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all content
- Manage the digital marketing agency for organic and paid social media output, if required
- Generate ad hoc artwork for RAFCT and RIAT social media posts
- Exploration and assessment of new channels contributing to the social media strategy
- Community management on our social media channels, including handling public correspondence or queries as required
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Air and Ground Operations, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to content creation and social media
- Manage volunteers during the show to manage social media requirements
- Work with the PR & Engagement Office to manage crisis communications through social media channels, if required
- Track and analyse social media performance using analytics tools, test and optimise
- Regularly track and get insights into competitors’ social media and content strategies
- Stay up-to-date with social media technologies and latest trends
Type of contract/working hours:
Full Time - Permanent
36.25 hours per week. All employees are required to work the Saturday or Sunday before the Royal International Air Tattoo and the whole weekend of the event.

20 days annual leave (rising to 25) plus Bank Holidays
Christmas closure of our offices (not from leave allowance)
2 days paid volunteering leave per year
Non-Contractual:
You will also receive two complimentary tickets to The Royal International Air Tattoo and a staff discount of 50% for an additional six.
Competencies:
Education:
- A Level or equivalent (essential) or higher
Knowledge:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a social media role (essential), event or non-profit brand (highly desirable)
- Someone with a proven track record of demonstrating exceptional knowledge and understanding of the Social Media landscape with extensive knowledge of X, Instagram and Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (essential) including analytics and social listening tools
- Experience using a graphic design package conversant with producing social media graphics – e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva (essential)
- Campaign management (essential)
- Fully conversant with Meta and TikTok advertising platforms (essential)
- Agency management (highly desirable)
- Video editing experience (highly desirable)
- Previous experience working in an office environment (highly desirable) and as part of a marketing team (essential)
- Interest in aviation, especially military aircraft (a huge plus)
