C-130J Hercules - Oman
The Sultanate of Oman took delivery of its first C-130J Super Hercules in 2012 to replace the aging C-130H models in its fleet. The aircraft are based at Al Musana Air Base and operated by No. 16 Squadron, having moved in 2015 from their previous base at the capital Muscat-Seeb. With the noticeable difference of a six-bladed composite propeller coupled to a Rolls-Royce AE2100D3 turboprop engine, the C-130J brings substantial performance improvements over all previous models. The C-130J-30, a stretch version with a 15-foot fuselage extension of which Oman has one, increases the capabilities even more.
