Hawk T.1 - UK
Fixed-wing fast jet flying in the Fleet Air Arm is currently the sole preserve of 736 Naval Air Squadron at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, Cornwall, on the British Aerospace Hawk T.1. Fourteen examples of the type are operated by 736, which is officially designated as the Navy's maritime aggressor squadron, providing simulated ship attack and airborne intercept training for vessels undergoing pre-deployment work-ups. In so doing the Hawks play the part of enemy fighter aircraft or sea-skimming missiles. They also help train fighter controllers and airborne early warning observers. While 736 is mainly based at Culdrose, it also maintains a small detachment at Yeovilton.
