Ikarus C42a x2 - Civilian
The Ikarus C42 is a German-designed microlight typical of the modern breed of aircraft in this class. It is a lightweight two-seater with side-by-side seating, powered by a lightweight Rotax engine of either 80 or 100hp. The cabin and fuselage are fashioned from carbon composite, and it is possible to fold the wings for easier stowage. Over 1,200 C42s have been produced, the type being popular with private pilots, flying clubs and training organisations. The examples in the RIAT 2018 static display is being provided by Airbourne Aviation, based at Popham in Hampshire.
