L-159 ALCA - Czech Republic
Aero Vodochody, the Czech aircraft manufacturer, is best known for its highly successful L-29 Delfin and L-39 Albatros jet trainers, used widely around the Warsaw Pact and by other Communist states during the Cold War. From the L-39 it developed the single-seat L-159 ALCA (Advanced Light Combat Aircraft), first flown in August 1997. This affordable multi-role (air-to-ground, air-to-air and reconnaissance) platform made much use of Western technology, including the Honeywell F124 turbofan engine and the avionics. The Czech Air Force is currently the type's sole military operator. There is also a trainer version, the L-159T.
