Aermacchi T-339A
Developed to replace the MB-326 is Italian Air Force, the MB-339 has found worldwide success as an advanced jet trainer, light attack aircraft and as an aerobatic aircraft. The MB-339 is also the current aircraft of the Frecce Tricolori who are displaying here this weekend. The Italian Air Force operate the MB-339 as an advanced trainer prior to students moving on to Lead-in Fighter Training on the T-346 Master which is also in the flying display this weekend, a role that was also previously performed on the MB-339. Older MB-339's are also used to train navigators and weapon officers. The MB-339 will slowly be replaced in service by the new T-345A over the coming years.
