Leonardo C-27J Spartan - Slovak Republic
In 2014 Slovakia ordered two examples of the Italian built C-27J Spartan from Alenia Aermacchi (now Leonardo). The tactical transport aircraft is in service with a number of nations and has already been used by Slovakia for troop movements and airlifting cargo. The C-27J Spartan is a modern development of the earlier Aeritalia G222 twin-turboprop medium transport, featuring more advanced engines, avionics and systems. First flown in 1999, the Italian Air Force introduced the C-27J to service seven years later. Since then the Spartan has also come into operation with a number of air arms including Australia, Bulgaria, Greece, Lithuania, Morocco, Mexico, Romania and the United States.
