The Gulfstream V is an long range American executive business jet which first flew in 1997. An improved version known as the Gulfstream G550 is now on the market. The Gulfstream V was the companies first very long range executive jet with the ability to fly 6,500 nautical miles. The aircraft features a supercritical wing which was specifically developed to increase the efficiency of this executive jet over its rivals. The Gulfstream V has seen significant use with militaries around the world as a VIP aircraft.
The military VIP version of the Gulfstream V is known as the C-37A and is used by all the branches of the US military including the Coast Guard. Other organisations also use the type including NASA and the FBI.
The 76th Airlift Squadron of the USAF will be providing one of their C-37As for static display at this year's Air Tattoo. The unit forms part of the 86th Airlift Wing and is based at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
