What we do
Why do we do it?
We have made over £7 million in grants since launching in 2005, but now our ambition is to go further & reach 500,000 young people by 2026 and then 500,000 a year from then on. To do this, we commission and support a range of projects that give young people a meaningful experience of STEM, as well as supporting scholarships and opportunities to inspire them with careers in tech, engineering & aviation.
Road to RIAT
This competition is designed to inspire Key Stage 2 students (or equivalent) to think creatively about air and space. Winners attend The Royal International Air Tattoo and receive Lego® Spike Primes worth £670 for their school.
If you were an engineer
Our 'If you were an engineer' programme is one of the ways we're inspiring young people (aged 3-19) to begin engineering careers.
Flying Scholarships
We entirely fund the Junior Ranks and Junior Officers scholarship scheme. Since 2015 200 young members of the RAF have benefitted.
Awards & Scholarships
Our funding of Arkwright Engineering Scholarships has helped 40 sixth formers to become engineer leaders of the future.
RAF Air Cadets
Find out about how we support the Air Cadets and the amazing work they do at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).
