Aerosport Ikarus C42
The Ikarus C42 is a German made light sport aircraft/microlight that first flew in 1996. Over 1200 have been produced to date and the aircrafts weight is reduced through the use of tubular aluminium for the main supporting structure. Even though the aircraft is a twin seater, there is just one control column which is centrally located between the two passengers/pilots. The type is very popular in the US as a light sport aircraft and a new version known as the C42CS has been in production since 2015 with a redesigned undercarriage and interior.
The RAF Microlight Flying Association will be providing one of their Ikarus C42s for static display at this year’s Air Tattoo.
