Airbus C295MW
The CASA C-295, now Airbus C295 is a medium transport aircraft that was developed from the CN-235 medium transport which was originally developed for the Spanish and Indonesian Air Forces. The key differences between the types being that the C295 has a stretched airframe and more powerful engines providing a 50% increase in cargo carrying capability. Following its first flight in November 1997, the C295 has been ordered by over 35 militaries worldwide. In addition to its primary transport role, the C295 has either been developed for or proposed in a variety of different roles including maritime patrol, search and rescue, AWACS, as a gunship, and as an aerial refuelling tanker.
Serbia ordered a pair of C295MW (Modernised, Winglets) from Airbus Defence and Space during 2022, both aircraft were delivered to the 138th Transport Squadron at Milenko Pavlović Air Base in October and November 2023. The aircraft will replace the aging Antonov An-26 in Serbian service and will conduct a variety of missions ranging from cargo to VIP transport.
We are very pleased to announce that the Serbian Air Force will be providing one of their brand-new C295MW’s for static display at RIAT 2024. This is the first time that Serbia has sent aircraft to RIAT and we look forward to welcoming them into the RIAT family in July as our 58th nation.
