Embraer KC-390 Millennium
The Embraer C-390 Millennium is an indigenously developed twin jet engine cargo transport developed to replace the C-130 Hercules in Brazilian Air Force service. The Millennium is available in two variants, the C-390 transport and the KC-390 tanker-transport version which is capable of aerial refuelling other aircraft. The Millennium has similar airfield performance characteristics to those of the C-130 however it is faster, has longer range and can carry a heavier cargo. The type has been an export success for Brazil with orders currently on the books from Portugal, Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, South Korea and the Czech Republic.
To date, a total of 41 Millenniums have been ordered from Embraer and orders for over 70 additional aircraft are being discussed with a number of nations. Embraer have also entered into partnership agreements with both BAE Systems and SAMI to market the type to potential Middle Eastern customers. A potential civilian cargo transport version is also being studied with a Memorandum of Understanding being signed by the Brazilian postal company Correios to review this possibility.
We are pleased to announce that Embraer will be providing one of the KC/C-390 Millenniums to perform in our flying display on the Friday at this year’s Air Tattoo.
