Grob G120TP
The Grob G 120TP is a twin seat turboprop training aircraft with side-by-side seating and full aerobatic capability. The aircraft is made of composite materials and has a fully retractable undercarriage. The Grobs controls are similar to frontline military aircraft including Hands on Throttle and Stick (HOTAS) controls. The aircrafts performance means that it can also be used for basic jet training if needed. The Grob 120TP has been in production since 2010 and is currently operated by 13 different militaries around the world including the RAF.
QinetiQ operate a wide variety of types as part of the Empite Test Pilots school including a pair of Grob 120TP. The ETPS was established in 1943 and was the first test pilots school in the world and has the motto “Learn to test, test to learn”. The G-120TPs on strength with the ETPS have been modified to train pilots in a variety of different scenarios they may experience when testing experimental aircraft.
QinetiQ will be providing a number of aircraft for static display at this year’s Air Tattoo as part of our Pushing the Boundaries theme. This will include one of the Grob 120TPs.
